Tourism Ambassador
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and community-minded Tourism Ambassador to help showcase everything Central Nova Scotia has to offer. From engaging with visitors at local events to creating digital content that inspires travel, this role is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in tourism, marketing, and community development, while making a meaningful impact in the region.

Term: Approximately four months beginning in Mid-May (Summer Student)
Hours: 30 hours/week, typically Monday – Friday with some evenings and weekends
Wage: $18/hour plus 4% vacation pay in lieu of time
Location: Primarily remote, with weekly in-person check-ins in Truro and travel throughout Colchester County
Position Overview
The Tourism Ambassador is an important representative of the Central Nova Scotia Tourism Development Society (CNSTDS), supporting regional tourism promotion and enhancing the visitor experience across Colchester County. This role combines visitor engagement, digital marketing support, and tourism activities coordination, helping to promote Central Nova Scotia as a welcoming and vibrant travel destination. The Tourism Ambassador will contribute to both frontline visitor experiences and behind-the-scenes initiatives, including website updates, content creation, and industry support.
Key Responsibilities

Visitor Experience & Community Engagement

Represent CNSTDS at local events and festivals, welcoming visitors and promoting the region

Provide friendly, accurate information about local attractions, events, accommodations, and experiences

Promote local businesses and encourage visitors to explore the region

Help create a positive and memorable experience for visitors
Website & Content Support

Manage, maintain, and update ExploreCentralNS.ca, including reviewing accommodations and experience listings

Support the development of travel itineraries for different visitor types

Create written and visual content (e.g., blogs, social media and email content) promoting local tourism experiences

Visit local attractions to gather photos, videos, and stories for digital marketing promotion
Tourism Industry Support

Support regional Visitor Information Centres (VICs), including brochure distribution and feedback gathering

Assist with coordination of tourism materials and local partner communications

Lead in the planning and delivery of a familiarization (FAM) tour for frontline tourism/hospitality staff
General Support

Provide administrative and project support to CNSTDS as needed

Participate in weekly team check-ins and planning sessions
Work Environment
This position is primarily remote, with regular in-person check-ins in Truro and travel throughout Colchester County to attend events, visit tourism operators, and gather content.

Experience with social media, email and content marketing creation (including Canva) is an asset
